The first new Westin Resort property in California in 25 years broke ground this morning on the site of what was previously the Anabella hotel. The event was celebrated in style with live music, delicious breakfast food, and even a donut bar!
What started as a block of motel rooms purchased by Wincome Group in 1998 was remodeled and opened in 2001, becoming a hidden jewel in the Anaheim Resort area. Now fulfilling a 20-year dream to bring to Anaheim the first Four Diamond property adjacent to the Convention Center, Wincome group facilitates the Katella Avenue property’s journey to become a premiere destination that will feature 613 rooms, 101 suites, 3 restaurants, and 2 bars.
Speeches from Lucille Kring, Lucy Dunn, Kris Murray, Ron Miller, Carla Murray, and Mark Chan focused on the value that a four-diamond property will bring to the Resort in the competition for tourism and the thousands of jobs the two-year project is expected to create. The construction jobs will focus on employing residents of Anaheim, the greater OC area, and returning military veterans. The speakers emphasized the call for groups such as Wincome Group and The Walt Disney Company to”Invest your millions here, build your vision here, create your jobs here; and that invitation has made all the difference.”
We look back fondly on the history of the beloved Anabella and look forward eagerly to the opening of the new Westin Anaheim Resort.
